BEIJING, ABU DHABI — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi pledged Friday to deepen cooperation with the United Arab Emirates in oil and gas, investment, and infrastructure during a meeting with his Emirati counterpart in Abu Dhabi, China’s foreign ministry said Saturday.
Wang, who is on a three-nation Middle East tour that began Friday, met with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed. He emphasized China’s willingness to “strengthen high-level exchanges with the UAE, consolidate political mutual trust and elevate bilateral relations,” Reuters reported, citing China’s foreign ministry.
The talks highlight Beijing’s push to expand energy and infrastructure ties in the Gulf region.
