SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — San Francisco Police Department officers arrested a 30-year-old man on homicide charges following a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision at Mission Street and S Van Ness Avenue on April 13, 2026.
According to a press release, officers and paramedics responded to the scene at approximately 3:23 p.m. and located a deceased adult, police said.
Investigators determined the vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene immediately following the incident.
Authorities said the department’s Real Time Investigation Center (RTIC) located the suspect vehicle traveling on a nearby freeway.
After the vehicle exited the freeway, San Francisco police and San Francisco Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop near Potrero Avenue and 18th Street.
The driver, identified as Valentino Cash Amil of San Francisco, was detained without incident. Officers stated they developed probable cause to arrest Amil following the initial investigation.
Amil was transported to San Francisco County Jail on charges of homicide and felony vehicle hit-and-run with injury.
