The historic Apple Cup college football rivalry will continue Sunday when the Washington State Cougars face the Washington Huskies.
Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern time on Sept. 6.
The Huskies have dominated the series recently by winning 10 of the last 12 matchups.
However, the Cougars have earned both of their recent victories within the last five seasons.
New head coach Kirby Moore takes over the Washington State program following a seven-win season in 2025.
Meanwhile, Washington head coach Jedd Fisch enters his third season aiming to compete for a College Football Playoff spot after winning nine games in 2025.
In discussing the potential of Washington State, Moore raised questions about “whether transfer quarterback Caden Pinnick can elevate this offense,” the outlet reported.
The Huskies will counter with quarterback Demond Williams Jr., who returned to the program after briefly entering the transfer portal.
Washington is currently favored by 23.5 points in the betting odds, according to DraftKings.
Analysts noted that Washington State holds money line value because “they win in 22% of simulations,” CBS Sports reported.
Vaidya observed that “most of these Apple Cup games are close” despite Washington winning by 35 points last season, the outlet reported.
Running back Kirby Vorhees also returns to help lead the Cougars.
