The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has released significant updates regarding a shooting that occurred Saturday evening at Howe Community Park, involving an unauthorized gathering of several hundred people reportedly linked to a “UC Davis Picnic Day” celebration.
The incident began at approximately 6:30 p.m. when authorities received reports of individuals potentially carrying concealed weapons, followed by calls of a physical altercation. Although air support did not initially locate a fight, deputies on the ground found a massive crowd.
After park authorities deemed the gathering unauthorized, deputies spent roughly 15 minutes attempting to disperse the crowd using sirens and public address announcements. During this dispersal process, deputies heard 20 to 25 gunshots, causing the crowd to flee.
Law enforcement located four victims at the scene: a 21-year-old male, a 23-year-old female, a 24-year-old male, and a 25-year-old male.
Three of the victims sustained gunshot wounds, while one suffered a grazing laceration. All four were transported to local hospitals and remain in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
In a major breakthrough, a vehicle of interest was located in Fairfield and detained by the Solano County Sheriff’s Office. The three occupants—two females and one male—were interviewed by detectives, and a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a firearm.
While the investigation is ongoing, officials have not yet confirmed the specific level of involvement of these individuals.
