The 1997-98 NBA season was Michael Jordan’s “Last Dance” with the Chicago Bulls. By now, everyone knows the story. Jordan and Co. entered the year knowing it would be the last time the team’s current roster would be together. Because of that, it was championship or bust for the Bulls.

Sure enough, Jordan willed his team to another title. Thanks to a fantastic showing in the 1998 NBA Finals, in which Jordan won the Finals MVP award after averaging 33.5 points per game, the Bulls pulled off the feat, securing the team’s second three-peat. With that task complete, Jordan retired from the NBA for the second time in his career.

All of those factors likely led to one of Jordan’s game-worn jerseys from those Finals going for an astounding $14 million at an auction. Hunt Auctions in Pennsylvania announced Monday that the jersey Jordan wore in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals sold to a Miami real estate investor for that price.

The figure is — perhaps surprisingly — not a record. That belongs to a game-worn Babe Ruth jersey, per the Associated Press. That jersey, which sold for $24.12 million in 2024, was the one worn by Ruth when he hit his “called shot” home run.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Jordan memorabilia from the 1998 NBA Finals tends to draw significant interest at auctions. Jordan’s Game 2 jersey is the third from that particular Finals to bring in over $10 million during an auction.
