The NFL admitted it missed a huge penalty during the Patriots’ recent win over the Bills. This mistake happened late in the game and could have changed the whole outcome.

The error occurred during a critical moment in the fourth quarter. According to Yahoo Sports, the sequence involved a 12-yard catch by tight end Hunter Henry from quarterback Drake Maye. This play happened on 3rd-and-10 with only 55 seconds left in the match. The pass helped move the chains and helped the Patriots secure a win in the AFC East.

Will Campbell knee injury concerns

The Patriots also face some bad news regarding their offensive line. Will Campbell suffered a knee sprain during the first half of the 45-17 win against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. According to reports, the injury will “likely cause him to miss some time.” Campbell left the game after Rhamondre Stevenson was tackled into his right leg. This is the same leg where he tore his MCL last season.

Mark Daniels of MassLive wrote on X that the Patriots medical staff was watching Campbell’s right knee closely. He even walked off the field with help. The team had to use rookie Caleb Lomu to fill in at left tackle. Lomu, a first-round pick from April, played 47 snaps in the game.

Roster shifts for the Patriots

The injury bug hit several players on Sunday. Along with Campbell, the team saw TreVeyon Henderson and Dre’Mont Jones leave the game. Lomu noted that he prepared to start no matter what happened.

The Patriots must now rely on depth at several positions. Lomu has played a backup role at right tackle this year, but he can also play left tackle. Earlier this season, the team had already suffered losses of guards Mike Onwenu and Greg Van Roten. Now, the loss of Campbell might force the team to move Marcus Bryant off the injured reserve list.
