A tragic incident in Alaska ended the lives of a young couple just days before they planned to celebrate their formal marriage engagement.
Authorities with the Fairbanks Police Department reported that 21-year-old CloeRae McBrayer was fatally shot by her 22-year-old boyfriend, Landon Lowrance.
The fatal shooting occurred on Sept. 16 during an afternoon at a local residence.
Police investigators stated that Lowrance was playing with a revolver and pointing the handgun directly at McBrayer when the weapon suddenly discharged.
An unidentified friend who was present at the home immediately called emergency services and remained on the line with dispatchers.
Emergency operators listening to the telephone call reported hearing a severe disturbance unfolding in the background.
The friend attempted to physically intervene when Lowrance unexpectedly retrieved a second firearm inside the dwelling.
Before the witness could stop him, Lowrance turned the second weapon on himself and fired a fatal shot.
Police officers arriving at the location found McBrayer already deceased from her gunshot wound.
Paramedics quickly transported a critically injured Lowrance to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
