Advocates have pushed over the past year to expand the existing prohibition to encompass additional congressional staff categories.
Official representatives from the congresswoman’s office categorized the allegations as utterly false.
The congresswoman previously questioned congressional sexual misconduct scandals during public remarks in April.
In her earlier statements regarding congressional conduct, she questioned why individuals in Congress appeared so focused on sexual matters.
Addressing the bombshell accusations directly after they emerged, the congresswoman publicly clarified her sexual orientation and refuted any staff involvement.
“Well, I’m not a lesbian or bisexual, and I have never, ever been in any inappropriate relationship, nor have I ever been sexually involved with any staff,” according to the NY Post.
The congresswoman previously generated widespread attention in 2023 following an incident at a Denver theater performance.
Theater security escorted the congresswoman and her companion from the venue following a public disturbance involving vaping and photography.
She subsequently issued a public apology regarding the theater incident and survived reelection in 2024.
