Television host Jimmy Kimmel has built a prominent late-night career while raising four children across two marriages.

He first experienced parenthood at age 24 with his first wife, Gina Maddy, welcoming daughter Katie on Aug. 28, 1991, and son Kevin on Sept. 19, 1993.

Reflecting on those early, exhausting days of financial stress and radio job losses, the comedian detailed the immense pressure he felt to keep his family afloat.

“I was exhausted all the time … I used to beg Katie to go to sleep, almost in tears, just so I could take a nap,” per PEOPLE.

Both Katie, now a professional artist, and Kevin, a television sound worker, have since grown into adulthood and successfully started their own families.

In 2013, Kimmel married executive producer Molly McNearney, welcoming daughter Jane on July 10, 2014, and son Billy on April 21, 2017.

Speaking on the joy his daughter brings to his life despite initial nervousness about parenting again, Kimmel shared his deep affection.

“It does add a little bit of joy to each day. Maybe more than a little bit,” according to PEOPLE.

The family later faced a severe challenge when Billy was born with a congenital heart condition called tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia.

His youngest son successfully navigated three open-heart surgeries, including his most recent operation at age 7 in May 2024.

Expressing gratitude to the medical staff on his son’s ninth birthday in April 2026, the late-night host gave a heartening update on his son’s health.

“Our boy Billy turns 9 today and is doing great,” reported PEOPLE.
