Actress Annie Starke, daughter of award-winning star Glenn Close and producer John Starke, has successfully carved out a versatile life spanning acting, family and rustic culinary arts.
Born on April 26, 1988, Starke grew up spending significant time with her mother on major movie sets, including Disney’s “101 Dalmatians” when she was seven years old.
Despite being raised around Hollywood royalty, she maintains that her parents kept her grounded in a peaceful environment.
Reflecting on her rustic childhood in Bedford, New York, she expressed gratitude for her stable upbringing and stated that she had a “profoundly normal childhood,” per PEOPLE.
After earning her art history degree from Hamilton College in 2007, Starke eventually embraced her maternal legacy to pursue a professional career in performance.
Sharing her perspective on joining the industry, she explained that she felt drawn to the craft from her earliest years.
“But I knew what I wanted to do my whole life. Being an actress was always something that I just knew,” reported Grumpy Magazine.
Starke’s performance in the 2017 film “The Wife,” where she played the younger version of her mother’s character, marked a major milestone.
To make the portrayal of the character Joan seamless, the mother-daughter duo spent hours aligning their performances.
Describing their creative process, Starke noted that they “really worked hard on this character and put a lot of our souls into” the work, per PEOPLE.
Today, Starke has pivoted to ranch life in Montana with her husband Marc Albu and their newborn son Rory, who was born on Feb. 7, 2025.
She even hosted her own Magnolia Network series, “The Mountain Kitchen,” filmed on her mother’s scenic ranch.
Describing her current daily focus, Starke remarked that her life is centered around “ranching, mountain living and creating delicious dishes,” according to PEOPLE.
