Connecticut residents are navigating a damp and humid Thursday as periods of rain and cooler temperatures settle over the state.,
Weather experts indicate that there will be showery periods throughout the morning hours where the rain could become heavy.
While the day remains humid, the temperature will stay relatively cool with highs expected to remain in the 70s.
Shoreline communities including Stamford and New Haven are seeing intermittent showers and highs between 70 and 75 degrees.
Meteorologists noted that there might be a few brighter breaks in the clouds late in the day for those along the coast.
Inland regions are experiencing similar cloudy and cool conditions accompanied by rounds of showers.
Describing the morning outlook, NBC Connecticut noted the potential for significant rainfall.
“There will be some showery periods and at times, the rain can get heavy this morning,” according to NBC Connecticut.
Highs for inland areas like Greater Hartford and Waterbury are forecast to reach between 70 and 76 degrees.
Meteorologist Dan Amarante described the specific weather pattern affecting the inland portions of the state.
“Cloudy, cool and humid with rounds of showers and an isolated thunderstorm,” reported CT Insider.
In the Litchfield Hills, residents can expect off-and-on showers and patchy fog with highs between 68 and 74 degrees.
The weather is expected to become less active during the afternoon, though a few showers remain possible.
Looking ahead to Friday, the state will see a return to mostly sunny conditions with highs climbing into the 80s.
The upcoming weekend forecast currently features a mix of sun and clouds for those with outdoor plans.
Conditions are expected to remain stable enough for typical weekend activities as the rain clears out of the region.
