OAKLAND, Calif. (Next Stamina) — Local and federal authorities dismantled a suspected illegal gambling hub in the 1400 block of 17th Avenue in Oakland, Alameda County on April 9, 2026, following a surge of violence at the property.
According to the Oakland Police Department, the tactical operation was launched in response to a recent shooting and persistent neighborhood complaints regarding the location.
During the sweep, officers detained 10 individuals.
Among those held, three suspects were arrested on outstanding felony warrants.
Investigators at the scene recovered a firearm, unspecified narcotics, and a quantity of cash.
Gambling equipment was also removed from the premises as evidence.
Officials stated the investigation was prioritized due to the site’s “history of violence” and its impact on the surrounding community.
The department credited local residents for reporting the activity, noting that the operation highlights efforts “to address crime and enhance community safety.”
The Oakland Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division maintains that the investigation into the 17th Avenue site is ongoing.
