GREEN BAY, Wis. (Next Stamina) — The Green Bay Police Department and Green Bay Metro Fire Department are investigating a tour-style bus crash that occurred Sunday afternoon, resulting in injuries to 33 people.

The incident took place shortly before 2:45 p.m. when a bus carrying 54 passengers exited northbound I-43 onto North Webster Avenue, crossed the roadway, and traveled over an embankment.

First responders arriving at the scene found the bus, which was traveling from Chicago to a casino in Michigan, had left the roadway.

According to the GBPD, 33 individuals were transported to one of four local hospitals for medical treatment. Passengers who did not require immediate hospital care were taken to a reunification center established at The Salvation Army Kroc Community Center on Lime Kiln Road.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting local authorities by conducting a vehicle inspection to identify any potential mechanical defects.

The GBPD stated they will determine whether to refer charges against the bus driver following the conclusion of the investigation.

Local officials have requested that individuals seeking to contact passengers from the bus call 211.

The GBPD and GBMFD expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by multiple local first responders from surrounding agencies at the crash site.
