For Tennessee Titans fans who want to see the team move on from offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and be sellers before the trade deadline if the season continues to head in the wrong direction, an NFL insider has some bad news for you.
You can bet there are a lot of Titans supporters who yearn for the days when Mike Vrabel was leading the team from the sidelines. At the beginning of the decade, the two-time Coach of the Year winner led Tennessee to 11- and 12-win seasons. Sure, seven- and six-win campaigns followed those years, but even at his worst, he has been better than his predecessors.
After Vrabel’s replacement, Brian Callahan, went 3-14 in back-to-back seasons, the Titans saw enough and fired him. Now, the replacement’s replacement, Robert Saleh, doesn’t look to be any better because the team heads into a Week 5 clash against the Houston Texans, winless at 0-4. What is so disheartening about the rough start is that the offense under second-year QB Cam Ward hasn’t been good.
The hope was that Daboll would be able to bring the magic that helped turn Josh Allen into a star when they were together in Buffalo to help the 2025 No. 1 pick raise his game. That hasn’t happened, and there are many fans who want Daboll to be removed as OC. Well, that’s not happening.
“The Titans want Ward to play through it all and build that trust with Daboll, not search for quick fixes, as they continue to build up a roster that has as many first- and second-year players playing significant roles this season as any NFL team,” NFL insider Tom Pelissero reports.
Tennessee Titans not expected to be sellers before NFL trade deadline

Tennessee Titans General Manager Mike Borgonzi, left, and Coach Robert Saleh address the media the day before training camp begins at Vanderbilt Health Football Center Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
If the Titans are 1-7 or 0-8 by the time they reach the midway point of the season, it wouldn’t be a bad idea if they chose to sell off some pieces to get more draft assets for the next couple of years. And according to Pelissero, “teams have already called about running back Tony Pollard.”
Yet, despite having some players that may interest other teams, the NFL insider claims Tennessee has every intention of sticking to the plan with their coaching staff and roster despite an ugly start to the 2026 season.
“Don’t expect the Titans to hold a fire sale before the trade deadline even if the losses keep mounting,” he wrote. “With running back injuries across the league piling up, teams have already called about running back Tony Pollard, and GM Mike Borgonzi has told them the RB is not available.
“It’s always possible somebody could make a ridiculous offer before November 10. But Pollard is a locker room leader with a streak of four straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons, and his presence will be critical as they continue to get Ward going down the right track.”
