The Denver Broncos brought in eight free-agent defenders for tryouts on Friday, according to the NFL’s transaction wire. The Broncos hosted five defensive backs and three linebackers.

Denver hosted DB Ugochukwi Amadi, DB Shemar Bartholomew, DB Natrone Brooks, DB Stephan Hall, LB Kobe King, LB Owen Pappe, LB T.J. Quinn and DB Ambry Thomas. Amadi won the tryout and signed to the team’s practice squad.

The defensive back tryouts aren’t surprising considering that starting cornerbacks Pat Surtain (ankle) and cornerback Riley Moss (ribs) were both ruled out ahead of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Amadi addition now gives them more depth in the secondary.

Broncos tryouts

  1. DB Ugochukwi Amadi (signed)

  2. DB Shemar Bartholomew

  3. DB Natrone Brooks

  4. DB Stephan Hall

  5. LB Kobe King

  6. LB Owen Pappe

  7. LB T.J. Quinn

  8. DB Ambry Thomas

The players who weren’t signed, particularly the three linebackers, could be kept in mind down the road. For now, Denver’s 17-player practice squad and 53-man roster are full going into Week 5.
