Texas A&M sits at 3-2 and 1-2 in SEC play after defeating Arkansas 34-7 in Week 5, rushing for 231 yards and four touchdowns, while starting quarterback Marcel Reed was better in the pocket, completing 13/19 for 170 yards and rushing for 66 yards and a touchdown. If Reed can continue improving in the pocket, Texas A&M’s offense will be tough to stop for the rest of the year.
While beating a bad Arkansas team was expected, especially at home, third-year coach Mike Elko’s talented roster is slowly but surely playing up to the standard we expected to see before the season began. But the road gets tougher, starting Saturday afternoon with a matchup against No. 14 Missouri.
However, Texas A&M’s secondary, which played much, much better against Arkansas, will face its toughest challenge yet, as the Tigers racked up 560 yards against Florida and defeated the then 8th-ranked Gators 45-17 at home, with transfer quarterback Austin Simmons throwing for 340 yards and two touchdowns.
To pull off the upset, the Aggies will need sound defense, efficient running, and several explosive passes from Marcel Reed. What will Texas A&M wear on Saturday? According to the latest uniform reveal video from the Aggie media team, Mike Elko’s squad will go with maroon helmets, white jerseys, and white pants. Texas A&M sophomore DL Landon Rink is featured in the video game-inspired reveal.
Missouri will likely wear its regular black-and-gold uniform, which won’t clash with the Aggies’ look. Texas A&M will face Missouri at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, and ABC will air the game.
