JOPLIN, MO. โ Missouri Southern volleyball lost in four sets at home against the No. 8 ranked Missouri Western Griffons on Saturday, marking five straight losses for the Lions.
Missouri Southern got out to a strong start, claiming the first set 25-18. The Lions held a five-point lead late in the second set looking to go up 2-0, but a Missouri Western run saw the Griffons even things up, claiming the second set 28-26.
The Griffons carried that momentum into the late stages of this one, claiming the final two sets 25-22 and 25-23.
Individually, Grace Gardner led the Lions with 20 kills while Brenna Weaver notched a team-high 36 assists in the loss.
Missouri Southern is now 6-11 overall and 1-5 in MIAA conference play. The Lions will be back in action Friday, October 9 on the road against Central Missouri.
