The Los Angeles Chargers are off to a disastrous 0-5 start this season, and quarterback Justin Herbert has taken plenty of criticism for his struggles, including for skipping offseason workouts to join his now-fiancée, singer Madison Beer, on tour.
Former NFL star Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson was ready to pile on, but he quickly changed his tune after seeing what she looked like for the first time.
Herbert’s Struggles
The Chargers fell to 0-5 on Sunday with a 23-17 loss to the Denver Broncos at SoFi Stadium. Herbert completed just 14 of 24 passes for 121 yards with a touchdown and an interception, and he was sacked five times.
Herbert’s offseason has also come under scrutiny. Back in May, he missed about two weeks of the Chargers’ voluntary workouts to travel with Beer on her music tour, according to Newsweek. Head coach Jim Harbaugh said at the time that Herbert told him ahead of time and that he was fine with it.

Herbert and Beer announced their engagement in July. But with the Chargers still searching for their first win, his decision to skip those workouts has drawn plenty of second-guessing.
‘I Get It’
During a recent episode of Night Cap, Johnson was among those questioning Herbert’s priorities, at least at first. Then, he saw her photo.
“Let me see, let me see who this chick is. Let me see what she look like,” Johnson said on the show.
“I’m trying to understand,” Johnson continued. “Like the decision-making on knowing you have a new offense, knowing you have a new coach, but you chose to skip that. You know, I know maybe sometimes – I know it’s voluntary, but still. … You’re starting quarterback.”
When the picture came up, Johnson’s reaction changed in a hurry.
“Oh s***,” Johnson said.
“Yeah, hey, hey, hey, hey…” Johnson said. “I don’t too much put my cream in my coffee, but I get it.”
Needless to say, Herbert has at least one person in his corner now.
