The New Orleans Saints are not having the greatest start to the 2026 NFL season. Kellen Moore‘s team has shown flashes of promise this year. But they are currently 1-4 and have recently been called out by team owner Gayle Benson.
Benson’s callout came on Tuesday, saying she could not accept the level of play she has seen this year. Of course, these comments made their way back to the Saints coaches and players. On Wednesday, Moore responded to his team’s owner’s words.
“Mrs. B is great. And she, like all of us, we all want better results and that’s how this business is. And so we got great guys in this building that are doing everything they can to find the formula,” the Saints head coach said, via ESPN’s Katherine Terrell.

“All we can control moving forward as far as playing better, coaching better, giving ourselves the opportunities moving forward. I think our guys have the right mindset against the NFL. There’s ups and there’s downs and it’s about navigating those & getting better moving forward,” Moore continued.
The Saints had a rather gusty beginning to the season. New Orleans took the Detroit Lions to overtime. And they only lost that game on a failed two-point conversion that would have won it had it been converted. In Week 2, the Saints did beat the Baltimore Ravens.
Unfortunately, New Orleans has had a bit more tough sledding since Week 3. They have been outscored 103-64 in these last three games, all of which have ended in defeat. The Saints have had just one close loss in this span, as well.
New Orleans has to figure out something soon. It appears the team owner wants things to change. Saints fans certainly want to see a better product on the field, too. New Orleans has a chance to get on track on Sunday when they take on the New York Giants.
