The Miami Dolphins have signed quarterback Brady Cook to their practice squad, days after releasing their third-string passer from the active roster. The move comes following the team’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, dropping them to 0-5 on the year. The Dolphins released Cook from their 53-man roster on Saturday to make space for defensive tackle Kenneth Grant, who was activated off the injured reserve list.
To make space on the practice squad for Cook, the Dolphins released running back Jarquez Hunter. The Dolphins traded for Hunter this summer, sending the Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tutu Atwell in compensation. Hunter landed on the practice squad after the preseason and never made an appearance with Miami.
A 2025 undrafted free agent out of Missouri, Cook spent his rookie season with the New York Jets. He appeared in five games, starting four of them, and threw for 739 yards on a 57.5 completion rate. He had two touchdown passes and seven passes intercepted. He recorded a 55.4 passer rating.
Cook was cut by the Jets as part of the team’s roster cuts at the end of the preseason this year. He has not made an appearance since signing with the Dolphins.
