The Atlanta Falcons made some NFL history Sunday night, but it is a record the team will certainly want to forget. During their 30-23 overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the Falcons became the first team in NFL history to have four different quarterbacks throw an interception, with all four quarterbacks doing so within their first 10 pass attempts of the season.
🚨 NFL HISTORYFor the FIRST TIME in NFL history, 4 different QBs on the same team have thrown an interception.ALL within their first 10 pass attempts of the season! 😳 https://t.co/ruXKPRy2pF

It was an especially bizarre development for a Falcons team that entered the season expecting Tua Tagovailoa to be the starting quarterback. Both Cooper Rush and Jack Strand played QB before Michael Penix Jr. eventually took over the job. The quarterback turnover has now produced an embarrassing piece of NFL history that will be difficult for Atlanta to erase.

The Falcons’ unusual quarterback history continued Sunday when Tagovailoa entered the game briefly and threw an interception on just three pass attempts. Penix played most of the game and completed 19 of 32 passes for 240 yards and a touchdown, but Tagovailoa’s interception helped create the historic sequence involving Atlanta’s quarterbacks.
The record is particularly remarkable because all four interceptions came within the quarterbacks’ first 10 pass attempts of their respective seasons. That means Atlanta has managed to produce an NFL first despite using multiple quarterbacks throughout the season.
Penix was ultimately able to give Atlanta a chance to win. He helped the Falcons build a lead against Baltimore and finished with a solid overall statistical performance, while Bijan Robinson rushed for 86 yards and Drake London caught seven passes for 118 yards.
However, Atlanta could not finish the job. The Ravens rallied in the 4th quarter and overtime, eventually securing the 30-23 victory behind Tyler Huntley and Derrick Henry.

The quarterback interception record is another strange chapter in what has become an unpredictable season for Atlanta. The Falcons entered 2026 with Tagovailoa winning the starting quarterback competition, with the team believing his veteran experience would help stabilize the offense.
Instead, Atlanta has already had to navigate significant changes under center, culminating in a bizarre statistical accomplishment that had never happened before in NFL history.
The Falcons still have plenty of positives to take from Sunday’s game. Penix played well for stretches, London delivered a huge performance, and Atlanta’s defense kept the team in position to win for much of the night. The Falcons’ defense was strong for much of the game before Baltimore eventually mounted its comeback.
But becoming the first team in NFL history to have four quarterbacks throw interceptions within their first 10 attempts of the season is hardly the kind of record a franchise wants to own. After Sunday’s loss, Atlanta is now 2-3 and will have to find some stability at quarterback if it hopes to get its season back on track.
