The Washington Commanders will get Jayden Daniels back in Week 5. Washington’s franchise quarterback is finally back from his elbow injury. But some doctors around the NFL are skeptical about his return to the field.

Daniels visited multiple specialists in New York and Los Angeles following his latest elbow injury. The overwhelming opinion was that playing with a brace was a viable option. However, not all doctors are convinced that it is such a good idea.

Multiple doctors around the NFL believe that a player who dislocates his elbow twice is at a higher risk of suffering another dislocation, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It is important to note that those opinions are coming from doctors who have not examined Daniels personally. Instead, they seem to be sharing general medical opinions.

Daniels has suffered two elbow dislocations on the same arm over the past year.

The young quarterback was a full participant at practice this week. Commander offensive coordinator David Blough even called Daniels a “full go” on Thursday for Week 5 against the Giants.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo gave more updates about Daniels from Northwest Stadium before the game on Sunday.

“He operated extremely well at practice this past week and even the week before as well and really pushed to get back on the field as soon as possible,” Garafolo said via NFL GameDay Kickoff. “A great situation for the Commanders, considering Marcus Mariota is unavailable after injuring his knee last week. There are no limitations, they are expecting a full game plan for Daniels. They need him to protect himself, but they needed that before the injury and actually, weirdly felt like he was doing a good job of that. It just takes a moment where that injury can happen. If a 300-pounder falls on him, it’s gonna happen again.”

It will be fascinating to see how Daniels plays while wearing an elbow brace this week.
