The Washington Commanders hosted the New York Giants in Week 5 action today, and the Commanders looked really good for three quarters. But when the fourth quarter hit, it was like the defense couldn’t remember how to stop anything. The Giants scored 14 unanswered points to tie the game and send it to overtime, where things got crazy.

The Giants got the ball first and got into field goal range, but missed the kick. The Commanders were forced to punt on their first possession. The Giants marched down the field and were on the verge of scoring when Cam Skattebo fumbled the ball. The Commanders took over and drove into field goal range, but decided to run another play and didn’t have any timeouts. The clock ran out before they could snap the ball, and the game ended in a 27-27 tie. That final play will overshadow how well Daniels played in his return.

The Commanders had several players who played very well against the Giants today, which made it difficult to choose one Player of the Game. However, this week saw the return of Jayden Daniels, and his play absolutely changed how the rest of the team played, which is why he is this week’s Player of the Game.

Daniels was 17-for-25 for 199 yards through the air, and he rushed nine times for 103 yards and two touchdowns. The Giants blitzed the Commanders throughout the game, sacking Daniels four times. On several occasions, Daniels threw the ball away to avoid a negative play.

This game had a crazy ending, and if you’re a fan of either team, it was unsatisfying. For the Commanders, getting Daniels back on the field will have to suffice this week.
