Former Las Vegas Raiders guard Richie Incognito revealed the truth behind the firing of Josh McDaniels as their head coach.

This comes after his initial statement on McDaniels’ tenure as the Raiders’ HC, where he won only 9 out of the 25 games in charge. Incognito was not part of the team when McDaniels took over, but he believes the players could use the upcoming matchup as motivation to prove a point to their former HC.

“What Josh McDaniels did to this team for two years. He disrespected everybody on this team. He alienated everybody on this team. He lorded over them.

“Yeah, Josh you’re a great offensive coordinator, but you will never work outside New England… Those boys have stories from McDaniels that would blow people’s minds how bad he treated this team and the ultimate sign of disrespect is we don’t even talk about it,” said Incognito on the Initial Contact podcast.

However, his comments did not sit well with Jerry Thornton, who is a New England Patriots writer with Barstool Sports.

The Raiders job was McDaniels’ second stint as HC and there were a lot of expectations on him due to all the success he had with the Patriots. In 2009, the Denver Broncos also gave him the HC job, but he only lasted 28 games with them before losing his job.

Incognito explained why the Patriots OC failed to keep his job in Las Vegas in response to Thornton’s push back.

“No, they fired him because he was a d***** who alienated his entire locker room and ran the team into the ground. Did the same thing in Denver. Two failed head coaching stints, two fractured locker rooms, and every time he goes crawling back to Foxborough. Funny how the Patriot Way never seems to work outside New England,” Incognito posted on X.

Incognito’s co-host, Christian Fauria, engaged in a social media back-and-forth with him and pointed the blame at the Raiders’ ownership. However, the former Pro Bowler was not going to agree with Fauria.

It is unclear if Incognito had a conversation with McDaniels before he announced his retirement in 2022.

His Raiders will play against McDaniels’ Patriots on Sunday. Going into the game, Klint Kubiak’s team has a 3-1 record and will be hoping to improve on that against a Patriots side that has looked lacklustre this season.
