Truro City deserved to score more goals in their 2-1 win at Braintree Town, according to assistant manager Stewart Yetton.

The Tinners found themselves a goal down after eight minutes at National League South’s fourth-bottom side after Courtney Senior turned in an eighth-minute cross.

Jack Stretton and Luke Jephcott had good chances to equalise before Max Kinsey drew the Cornish side level as he headed home a corner midway through the first half.

Stretton and Jephcott had more chances before Will Dean got his third goal of the season early in the second half as the visitors hung on to secure the win.

Truro’s second win in three games keeps them fourth in the division, one point off league leaders Maidstone United.

“I think we were good value for the win,” Yetton told BBC Radio Cornwall.

“It wasn’t pretty in the last 20 minutes. They obviously were kind of spoiling a lot, a lot of fouls and we kind of got suckered in a little bit to that – a few of their boys and our boys are going at it off the ball and it gets a little bit scrappy.

“But I’m pleased to come away with the win. I think that’s the most important thing. We had enough chances I think, first half, to probably be a couple more ahead.”
