Among the more interesting teams in the NBA this season, the Golden State Warriors have to be among them.
The Warriors find themselves in a situation where they can probably compete because of how good Stephen Curry still is, but the harsh reality is that this just isn’t a championship-looking roster at the moment.
With Kristaps Porzingis also dealing with an unknown health issue, it gets even harder. To improve, the Warriors need to make a trade.

There isn’t exactly a slew of players the Warriors can pursue, which is part of the problem.
The Warriors aren’t exactly loaded with assets, either, which makes trades even more difficult. Despite that reality, the New York Knicks insider from the New York Post recently suggested that Karl-Anthony Towns could be available, adding that Golden State could figure out a way to get about $50 million in cap space to land him.
“Only a few possible suitors stand out to me right now in terms of cap space teams and fit. Chicago and the Clippers have the cleanest path. The Nets can get there with the money, but that’s not a good fit. Golden State and Dallas could get around [$50 million] in space with more tinkering,” Stefan Bondy wrote.
Towns ending up in Golden State would be a picture-perfect outcome for the Warriors, though it’s also fair to mention that there are still concerns about what the Knicks are going to do with a potential contract.
If the Knicks end all of this and pay Towns what he deserves, Golden State wouldn’t have a chance to trade for him. If the Knicks don’t do that, that would be a different topic.
