The NFL has suspended Chicago Bears defensive end Montez Sweat two games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
The league announced the suspension on Tuesday. It did not provide details on what Sweat allegedly did to violate the policy. The Bears have upcoming games against the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots in Weeks 6 and 7.
Sweat is a former Pro Bowler who’s in his fourth season with the Bears since joining the team via a midseason trade from the Washington Commanders in 2023. He led the Bears in sacks with 10 in 2025.
Sweat has been a full-time NFL starter since joining the league with Washington as a first-round pick in the 2019 draft. He missed just one game over the last four seasons.
