Matthew Stafford couldn’t quite pull out the win in a wild battle on Monday night, but he still left SoFi Stadium with a historic NFL milestone under his belt.
Stafford threw his 150th career touchdown with the Los Angeles Rams in the second half of their 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills. That made Stafford the first quarterback in NFL history to throw at least 150 touchdown passes with two different franchises.

Stafford picked up his 150th touchdown pass midway through the fourth quarter of what ended up being a shootout on Monday night.
Stafford found Davante Adams for a wide-open 5-yard touchdown, which tied the game up at the time. It marked Adams’ second touchdown of the game, too, after a 4-yard score in the second quarter.
Two. Touchdown. Tae. 😤

Stafford finished the night throwing 40-of-54 for 383 yards with three touchdowns. His other score came on a 2-yard toss to Puka Nacua, who had a ridiculous 17 catches and 138 yards on the night. But despite Stafford and Nacua’s big night, the Bills kicked a game-winning field goal in the extra period to sneak out the win.
Stafford spent the majority of his career in Detroit. The Lions selected him with the No. 1 overall pick out of Georgia back in 2009, and he led that franchise for over a decade while racking up 282 passing touchdowns. Stafford never won a playoff game there, however, and actually only made the postseason three times.
Stafford was traded to the Rams for Jared Goff in a blockbuster deal back in 2021, and he’s been the starter in Los Angeles ever since. He led the franchise to a Super Bowl win in his first season, and they made it back to the conference championship game last season, too.
Stafford has 432 passing touchdowns in his career, which is sixth on the NFL’s all-time list. Aaron Rodgers, with 537, is the only active quarterback with more than him.
Despite Stafford’s successes, the Rams now sit at just 2-3 on the season. They have plenty of work to do to catch back up in what is sure to be another crowded NFC West battle, starting with next week against the Arizona Cardinals.
While Stafford is undoubtedly nearing the end of his playing career — he’s now 38, and in his 18th season in his career — he’s very clearly still playing at an elite level while boosting his Hall of Fame bid when the time comes. Whether he can lead the Rams to another championship before he retires, though, remains to be seen.
