The Minnesota Timberwolves made a major move in the 2026 offseason, trading for LaMelo Ball. They had to part ways with longtime sixth man Naz Reid to make the move, but it was a big decision that had to be made to elevate the Timberwolves‘ ceiling.

With Ball, Anthony Edwards finally has a dynamic backcourt partner. They will be a big part of this resurgent offense, and head coach Chris Finch is already seeing positive developments with Ball’s arrival.

Chris Finch loves to see LaMelo Ball’s impact on the Timberwolves

Ball has always been a talented point guard who gets the most out of his teammates. During his time with the Charlotte Hornets, they did not reach the Playoffs, but Ball always had some good performances.

Now that he is with the Timberwolves, he has to face some major expectations. He will have to thrive under pressure, and with Edwards by his side, that is likely to happen.

MORE: Chris Finch and the Timberwolves have one major goal for LaMelo Ball

So far, Ball has been a positive for the Timberwolves. Finch has seen what has happened in practices and in the locker room, which seems to be quite a positive for Ball’s arrival in Minnesota.

“He’s always in a great mood. Always comes in smiling. He and Anthony have a shared quality: they’re really hard to stay mad at… We referred to ourselves as a moody team in the last couple of years, at times, and it’s probably gotten in our way. We’ve traded moodiness for giddiness. So, we’ve gotta get to some sort of happy medium,” Finch said ahead of a preseason game against the Knicks.

As long as Ball provides this kind of impact on his teammates, they will be playing well. If the chemistry and mood within the team are trending positively, it is hard not to give props to Ball for that.
