Will Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin play in today’s game against the New York Giants?
Washington’s star receiver first landed on the injury report the Friday before last week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. He was ruled out on Sunday morning with a hamstring injury. McLaurin did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday this past week, but did so on a limited basis on Friday.
Here’s what head coach Dan Quinn said regarding McLaurin’s status on Friday.
“Terry, I thought looked really good today, so we’ll decide as we get closer to the game,” Quinn said. “Today, it was excellent to have him back out on the field.”
The Commanders listed McLaurin as questionable for the final injury report.
Washington has already ruled eight players out for Sunday’s game, including fellow starting wideout, Stefon Diggs. Does Diggs’ absence increase the pressure on McLaurin to play? No, not at all. The Commanders will do what’s best for their players, even if it means being overly cautious.
Something else to consider: the weather. Because of Hurricane Isaias, the weather will affect Sunday’s game. It’s expected to rain the entire game, and with the field at Northwest Stadium already an issue, would that lead the Commanders to play it safe with McLaurin?
“Yeah, right now it doesn’t,” Quinn responded. “Going through just everything for practice and getting back to it, but it’s not something right now that is under evaluation for that.”
On Saturday, Commanders insider Ben Standig offered a positive update on McLaurin’s status.
From earlier. The Terry McLaurin updates. Hammy responded well after practice, per source. GTD and all, but his status is trending up as of this afternoon. https://t.co/j3TRNvkgMJ pic.twitter.com/WnBdF4HwCD

“Trending up,” said Standig.
John Keim of ESPN offered a similar update, but with different wording.
WR Terry McLaurin remains a gametime decision (hence: questionable). At this point a slight lean to him playing, but it’s just slight per source.

“A slight lean,” Keim said.
It certainly sounds like McLaurin is doing everything he can to convince the Commanders to allow him to play. However, this will truly be a game-time decision.
