New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez will not be playing in Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

After missing his sixth straight practice on Friday, Patriots coach Mike Vrabel officially ruled out Gonzalez, who is dealing with the same shoulder injury that kept him out of last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills. The star defensive back was reportedly in the locker room on Friday, but he declined to go into detail about his injury.

Vrabel was also asked about the specifics surrounding the injury and whether the team was concerned that it could be a long-term thing for Gonzalez.

“He’s out Sunday. That’s potentially the only thing I can tell you,” Vrabel said, via Patriots Wire’s Sophie Weller.

Along with Gonzalez being out, the Patriots will also be missing Carlton Davis III, Karon Prunty and Channing Canada. It leaves some major question marks at the cornerback position ahead of the Week 5 tilt against the Raiders.

Even worse, there’s no clear understanding of the kind of injury Gonzalez is dealing with or a timetable for an eventual return.
