Davit Pachulia, son of former Golden State Warriors center Zaza Pachulia, committed to play for the USF basketball team, he announced on social media.

“Thank you to coach (Chris) Gerlufsen and the rest of the amazing coaching staff for believing in me,” Pachulia wrote on Instagram Wednesday. “Thank you to all my coaches and mentors that left their mark on me along my journey.”

Pachulia, 17, had a breakout junior year at De La Salle-Concord, including a 29-point effort against Dougherty Valley-San Ramon in January in which he made six 3-pointers.

The 6-foot-4 wing is developing as a sharp-shooter, but De La Salle head coach Marcus Schroeder said his game is much more dynamic.

“Davit is also really good at driving to the basket and finishing,” Schroeder said to the Chronicle in January. “He can also post up and is an excellent passer out of the block, and of course he can really shoot. He’s super smart with the ball and is just a really dynamic offensive player.”

Pachulia’s commitment keeps him close to home. He spent a large part of his childhood in the Bay Area as his father, Zaza, played two seasons of his 16-year NBA career with the Warriors and won titles with them in 2017 and ’18.

After retiring in 2019, the elder Pachulia joined the Warriors front office as a consultant.

The USF Dons finished the 2025-26 season with a 25-10 record overall and 13-5 West Coast Conference record, earning an NIT tournament invite.
