President Donald Trump shared a map on social media depicting Canada, Mexico and several other nations as part of the United States.
Trump, 80, shared the illustration on Truth Social during a flurry of holiday messages on Labor Day.
The image superimposed the American flag over Canada, Mexico, Greenland, Cuba and Guatemala.
The holiday post reflects a broader pattern of renaming geographical landmarks during the president’s second term.
Trump recently renamed Lake Ontario to “Lake America” using an executive order.
Prior to signing the change, the president spoke about his plan in a video posted to TikTok.
“We’re gonna make a little change, we’re gonna call it something different than Lake Ontario,” Trump said in the clip.
He then suggested that renaming the lake would only require simple tools and intelligence.
“We’re gonna call it Lake America,” Trump said, asserting that “all it takes is a good pen and some intelligence.”
The president subsequently took a Sharpie and crossed out the lake’s name, writing the new name above it.
Additionally, the president suggested renaming the state of New Mexico to “New America.”
An image shared by the president showed a map of the state with the word “Mexico” crossed out and replaced.
Trump has also directed the federal government to refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America.”
Furthermore, the president has repeatedly advocated for the United States to acquire Greenland from Denmark.
Trump expressed that achieving full ownership of the self-governing territory was psychologically important to him.
Danish and Greenlandic officials have strongly rejected these claims, emphasizing the island’s sovereignty.
