President Donald Trump has debuted a dark brown look that has surprised observers and ignited widespread reaction online.
The president arrived at Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey on Friday, Sept. 4, for a weekend getaway at his Bedminster golf club.
Spectators immediately noticed that his trademark golden-blond locks had been replaced by a much darker brunette shade.
Social media users and media figures quickly reacted to the unexpected aesthetic transformation.
Journalist Yashar Ali expressed utter disbelief at the style, questioning the change online.
“The hair????” Ali wrote.
Ali then stated that the photographic evidence was hard to credit.
“If I hadn’t pulled the photos from Getty Images myself, I wouldn’t have believed it,” Ali said.
Jeopardy champion Hemant Mehta offered a humorous take on the situation.
“If everyone keeps mocking this, there will be hell toupée,” Mehta joked.
Author Annie Lamott shared a highly positive review of the change.
“I love it. So youthful. Very Pierce Brosnan,” Lamott wrote.
Another observer noted that the transition was fitting for the changing seasons.
“Summer’s almost over,” the user remarked, adding that it is “a natural time to switch from bottle blonde to brunette”.
The longevity of the new style remains a mystery.
Trump wore a red hat that read “Trump was right about everything” while golfing on Saturday, obscuring his hair.
A similar style shift occurred in 2019 when he debuted a slicked-back look at a Virginia church service that quickly disappeared.
His iconic hair has long been a subject of intense public speculation, including rumors of a scalp procedure or a wig.
To dispel those rumors during his 2016 campaign, Trump let comedian Jimmy Fallon muss his hair on television.
