LOS ANGELES — A 25-year-old man was killed in a shooting late Sunday night in the Pico-Union neighborhood, prompting a homicide investigation by Los Angeles police.

The shooting was reported shortly after 10 p.m. near the intersection of 15th Street and Kenmore Avenue, where officers found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds, police said, Fox 11 Los Angeles reported. The man was on the street when he was targeted by an unidentified suspect.

Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The suspect fled the area and remains at large. Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.

LAPD homicide detectives are continuing to investigate and are working to identify potential leads, according to police.
