SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Next Stamina) — A pursuit that began in Hollywood ended Tuesday night when a suspect crashed a pickup truck into an apartment complex in South Los Angeles. The incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of 45th Street and Figueroa Street after the driver jumped a curb and struck the building.
Aerial footage from AIR7 showed the driver initially refusing to exit the vehicle following the collision. After a period of time, the individual squeezed through the passenger side window and climbed onto the cab of the truck. According to ABC7 Los Angeles, the suspect began waving his arms while standing on top of the vehicle.
The standoff concluded moments later when the driver jumped into the truck bed and then onto the sidewalk. Officers immediately swarmed the individual and placed him under arrest.
Law enforcement officials stated the suspect was originally wanted for allegedly making criminal threats. ABC7 reported, during the course of the chase from Hollywood to South Los Angeles, the driver successfully avoided spike strips deployed by officers before the final impact at the apartment complex.
