WASHINGTON — The U.S. Justice Department said Tuesday that recently released records connected to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation include false allegations involving President Donald Trump that lack credibility and were never substantiated.

According to the department, the claims were submitted to the FBI shortly before the 2020 U.S. presidential election and were included among materials released in the latest batch of Epstein-related documents.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Justice Department rejected the assertions outright, describing them as “untrue and sensationalist.”

“To be clear: the claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already,” the department said.

The Epstein files have drawn renewed public attention following the release of thousands of pages of records related to past federal investigations into the late financier and convicted sex offender, who died in jail in 2019.
