The NFL fined L.A. Rams linebacker Nate Landman $11,111 for a hit on a defenseless player this week. The penalty came in the second quarter of the Rams’ Week 4 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, as Landman was flagged for a hit on receiver Dontayvion Wicks. The Eagles ended up punting a few plays later.

Landman was previously fined $11,111 for an unnecessary roughness “use of the helmet” penalty against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1.

It’s already the third significant roughness penalty against Landman in his last seven games, dating back to the 2025 playoffs and the Carolina Panthers.

Landman previously avoided a fine in the 2026 playoffs for this hit on Panthers receiver Jalen Coker.

The Rams signed Eric Kendricks this week, perhaps as insurance for the linebacker position moving forward. Landman signed a three-year, $22 million extension with L.A. in 2025, but he hasn’t been as impactful since that deal and it’s starting to make more sense why the Atlanta Falcons let him walk after only three seasons with his original team.

Landman mainly just tackles players and that’s about it. Sometimes the tackles are loud and powerful and possibly painful, which is all within the bounds of football. Sometimes they deliver free first downs and get him fined, so that’s something he will need to clean up moving forward.
