Hall hurt his left foot on the first play of the second half of a loss to Nebraska on Sept. 26. He did not play in last week’s 31-3 loss at Wisconsin, the second game this season he missed. Hall also sat out the Eastern Michigan game after injuring his right arm during the season-opening win over Toledo.

MSU (2-3, 0-2 Big Ten) will be without linebacker Caleb Wheatland after he was injured against the Badgers. Starting cornerback Tyran Chappell will miss his third straight game, and backup cornerback NiJhay Burt will miss his second straight. Also out for the Spartans again are running back Cam Edwards (season), cornerback Keshawn Williams, running back Darrin Jones Jr., fullback Jay Coyne, tight end Joe Caudill and offensive lineman Tristan Comer.

Illinois (2-3, 0-2) has three players listed as game-time decisions: wide receiver Jayshon Platt, defensive back Tywan Cox and offensive lineman Champ Smith. Running back Ca’Lil Valentine is out, along with wide receiver Alex Perry, linebacker Jack Paris, defensive lineman Carter Smith, tight end BJ Thurman and offensive linemen TJ McMillen and Kai Pritchard.
