Georgia head coach Kirby Smart expressed significant satisfaction following his team’s dominant 42-7 victory over Ole Miss on Saturday. The Bulldogs controlled the game from the opening kickoff, effectively neutralizing the Rebels on both sides of the ball to secure a crucial road win in Oxford.
Smart emphasized that the most impressive aspect of the performance was the collective commitment to the team’s strategic approach. Reflecting on the defensive effort, Smart noted, “Great job by the defensive staff. Kids bought into the plan. We talked about sticking to the plan. They stuck to the plan. Did a great job.”
The Georgia defense held the Ole Miss offense to just 252 total yards and prevented them from scoring until the final quarter. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss faced relentless pressure throughout the contest, finishing with 170 passing yards, one interception, and four sacks. This defensive intensity complemented an offensive unit that thrived on the ground, racking up 295 rushing yards.
Quarterback Gunner Stockton delivered an efficient performance, throwing for four touchdowns and adding another on the ground. Smart credited the offensive line for their physicality, noting that the team succeeded in their goal to “dominate their front,” which allowed the offense to operate effectively. The victory marks Georgia’s third road win of the season, further solidifying their position as a top contender. The Bulldogs will now turn their attention to their upcoming home matchup against Missouri as they look to maintain this momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
