Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma recently lightened the mood on his game show, “Family Full House with Rohit Sharma,” by making a humorous remark regarding the team’s ambitions for the upcoming ODI World Cup. During a segment featuring comedian Aakash Gupta and Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal, the conversation turned to a lighthearted theory suggesting that Indian captains often win the World Cup the year after they get married.
As the panel discussed this historical coincidence, the banter shifted toward the current ODI captain, Shubman Gill. When it was noted that Gill has not yet committed to marriage, Rohit Sharma stepped in with a witty response that quickly went viral across social media platforms.
Displaying his trademark humor, the veteran batter quipped, “No man, I’ll do whatever it takes to win the World Cup.” The comment was made in jest, implying he would even take on the role of a matchmaker for his younger teammate if it meant securing the prestigious ICC trophy for India.
The studio audience and his celebrity guests, including Namita Thapar and Aman Gupta, were left in stitches by his impeccable comic timing. The segment has since gained significant traction online, providing fans with a moment of levity as the team prepares for their upcoming international fixtures.
Currently, both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are in New Zealand for a multi-format series. Following a successful 3-2 victory in the T20I series, the team is shifting its focus toward the ODI campaign. While the marriage talk was entirely playful, it underscored the high expectations surrounding the Indian squad as they look toward the next major global tournament. Rohit, who has confirmed his availability for the 2027 ODI World Cup, continues to balance his professional commitments with his engaging presence on his personal media show.
