Another weekend of college football is behind us, and though it wasn’t the most chaotic Saturday we’ve seen so far this season, we’re certain to see some changes in the US LBM Coaches Poll on Sunday.
No one in the top five lost this week, so that is likely to remain unchanged, but the biggest wildcard will likely be Florida. The Gators were the only top-10 team to lose in Week 5, and it was a 45-17 loss to No. 25 Missouri. How far they fall is a question, but quite a few teams are likely to leapfrog them.
Iowa will also surely be falling out of the top 15 after it was mostly uncompetitive against Ohio State, while No. 16 Mississippi State could fall out of the rankings entirely (though we don’t expect it) after a blowout loss at the hands of Alabama.
We project a trio of Big Ten squads dropping out in the Hawkeyes, Michigan (lost at Minnesota) and Penn State (lost at Northwestern). That could open the door for teams like Oklahoma State, Pittsburgh, Kentucky and, perhaps, even Boise State to enter the top 25.
Here’s our prediction for what the coaches will do on Sunday with their top 25 entering Week 6
