COLUMBIA โ South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer stood with his hands on his hips and didn’t move for nearly 10 seconds after Kentucky won 35-34 in overtime on Oct. 3.
It wasn’t just an overtime loss on a successful two-point conversion, it was the third straight loss for the Gamecocks (2-3, 0-3 SEC) and the eighth straight conference loss, a streak that goes back to September 2025.
The Wildcats (4-1, 2-1) were down 17 in the second quarter but pulled off the largest road comeback in program history. Meanwhile Beamer added a seventh loss since 2022 in a game where his team led by more than 10.
Does Beamer feel that he has the support of the administration to continue as football coach?
“Yeah, I mean I don’t know anything other than what they’ve told me, that they’ve been super supportive and have been all along,” Beamer said. “Wish we could have put a better result on the field tonight”
