Follow along every weekend as I share my favorite Primetime Slate lineups (Sunday night to Monday night), including a complete breakdown of all fantasy-relevant players on the slate.
Recommended Primetime DFS lineups
DK Lineup: QB Tyler Shough ($5.6k), RB Jahmyr Gibbs ($9.0k), RB Chuba Hubbard ($6.4k), WR Chris Olave ($7.7k), WR Tetairoa McMIllan ($6.2k), WR Isaac TeSlaa ($3.7k), TE Darren Waller ($3.3k), FLEX Alvin Kamara ($5.0k), DST New Orleans Saints ($3.1k)
FD Lineup: QB Bryce Young ($7.6k), RB Jahmyr Gibbs ($9.9k), RB Chuba Hubbard ($7.1k), WR Chris Olave ($8.3k), WR Tetairoa McMillan ($7.0k), WR Isaac TeSlaaa ($5.5k), TE Juwan Johnson ($5.6k), FLEX Darren Waller ($5.4k), DST Carolina Panthers ($3.4k)
Wow, this is an exciting two-game slate. Superstars across the board facing injury-riddled defenses. I wish I could afford to play everyone. Alas, I cannot. At quarterback, you can make an argument for any of the four starters. Jared Goff (QB1) is the most experienced and has multiple star weapons. He should be the top-scoring quarterback on this slate, but the separation is minuscule. Bryce Young (QB2) and Tyler Shough (QB3) are the young guns who have started the season on fire, and finally we have Michael Penix Jr. (QB4), who returned from injury last week to resurrect the Falcons’ offense. Since I really want maximum exposure to Jahmyr Gibbs at running back, I will probably fade Goff and use Young or Shough as my primary options.
With two astronomically priced, stud running backs on this slate, it will be next to impossible to afford both of them. You are choosing between Jahmyr Gibbs (RB1) and Bijan Robinson (RB2) as your RB1. I’m leaning Gibbs, but by pivoting to Bijan, it opens up Goff as your quarterback. This is important if you don’t want to be too heavily invested in one of the teams. Your RB2 options are also highly appealing. Chuba Hubbard (RB3) has been a star operating as a solo act while Jonathan Brooks (IR – abdomen) remains out. Meanwhile, Alvin Kamara (RB4) steps back into the lead role for New Orleans following the IR placement of Travis Etienne (IR – hamstring). His value has always been in his contributions in the passing game. This makes him an elite play on DK, and I will be inclined to use him at FLEX on that site if he isn’t my RB2. Kendre Miller (RB5) is projected to split the early-down work with Kamara. Frankly, I believe that the Saints will let Kamara do as much as he can and only use Miller to spell him. If I use Miller, it will be on FD. Brian Robinson (RB6) has some standalone FLEX value, but I prefer to save him for Showdown. Sione Vaki (RB7) and A.J. Dillon (RB8) don’t even have Showdown appeal to me. You can ignore them.
We also have three astronomically priced stud wide receivers on this slate. There is more volume depth at this position, but the quality of that depth drop-off is more than at the running back position. I expect to use two of Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR1), Chris Olave (WR2) and Drake London (WR3) whenever and wherever I can. There are three primary WR2 pivots. They would be Tetairoa McMillan (WR4), Jalen Coker (WR5 – quadriceps; questionable) and Jameson Williams (WR6). Effectively speaking, you need two of that six-pack in every lineup.
If Coker is ruled out, Brycen Tremayne (WR9) and John Metchie (WR11) become must-start plays at WR3. They would both see a huge boost in snaps and targets without Coker and with Xavier Legette (knee) also out this week. If Coker plays, they can both be left for Showdown. The other options to consider at WR3 are Devaughn Vele (WR7) and Isaac TeSlaa (WR8). Both provide access to strong offenses at a considerably lower price point than St. Brown and Olave. Jahan Dotson (WR12) and Olamide Zaccheaus (WR10) have Showdown-level upside, but neither belongs in your regular slate lineup.
Tight end is also a fun position this week. Juwan Johnson (TE1) has been incredible to start the season. With Noah Fant (TE4 – abdomen) questionable, he could see an additional uptick in usage. What is crazy is that he is still priced as a mid-priced tight end despite performing at an upper-tier level. Even if Fant plays, Johnson will be my favorite option on DK. I don’t think I can trust an injured Fant on his own, but he might be usable in Showdown. Darren Waller (TE2) will be my top option on FD. He has shown a clear nose for the end zone and his price is slightly lower than Johnson’s. Plus, Detroit’s safety room may be playing people off the street. Waller is also considerably cheaper on DK. There is a legit thought plan in using both of them.
Sam LaPorta (TE3) has a floor of nine points. He needs a touchdown to reach 3x value. I will consider him as a pivot if I don’t use St. Brown. Despite the return of Penix, Kyle Pitts (TE6) still did nothing. He is unplayable right now at any price. Even his running mate, Austin Hooper (TE5), is a better choice, but I’d still leave him for Showdown. Carolina has two serviceable backup tight ends in Tommy Tremble (TE7) and Mitchell Evans (TE8). Both can be used in Showdown, but they are avoidable on this slate.
This slate is going to be high-scoring, so none of the defenses stand out. I’m slightly leaning toward the New Orleans Saints (DEF1) and the Carolina Panthers (DEF2) as the home teams. The Atlanta Falcons (DEF3) would be my third choice, but I will only have minimal exposure to them. I can’t see any pathway that has me playing the Detroit Lions (DEF4), other than a complete Detroit Voltron-stack (Goff, Gibbs, St. Brown, TeSlaa and Lions defense).
