SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The San Angelo TLCA Eagles were hoping to treat the fans to a homecoming victory Friday night at Lake View Stadium, but the Eldorado Eagles ended up stealing the show.
In an all-Concho Valley showdown, Eldorado rallied to beat TLCA 28-24.
Eldorado opened the scoring on a touchdown pass from quarterback Garrett Walling to Cole Meador on the game’s first series. The Eagles went for a two-point conversion and failed, making it 6-0 for the visitors.
TLCA answered on the ensuing possession on a TD run by Joseph Luna. The two-point conversion made it 8-6 for the home team in this battle of Eagles.
Jackson Chacon then scored on a direct snap for TLCA, and the Eagles got another two-point conversion to move ahead 16-6 late in the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter, Walling hooked up with Meador again, and the receiver barreled his way into the end zone, dragging tacklers with him on his second score. That got Eldorado within 16-12.
Eldorado snapped a three-game losing streak. Both teams are now 2-4.
TLCA will open district play at home against Early on Friday, Oct. 9. Eldorado will host McCamey in the district opener next week.
