Virginia Tech started throwing uppercuts before Pitt even realized the bell had rung.
But the bout, which ended in a 35-33 Panthers win, was far from over.
Pitt didn’t let an early two-touchdown deficit and a raucous road environment deter it, battling back within a field goal by the midway point, then climbing ahead by 11 points early in the final frame.
