Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo delivered an explosive performance on the international stage, scoring 32 points to help the Fighting Irish secure a decisive victory over Villanova.
The exhibition matchup, held in Rome, showcased the high-scoring capabilities of the sophomore guard as she dominated the court throughout the contest.
The game served as a unique preseason opportunity for the team to compete abroad while testing their roster depth against a familiar Big East opponent.
According to reports, “Hannah Hidalgo erupts for 32 points as Notre Dame breezes past Villanova in Rome” during the team’s European tour.
The Fighting Irish maintained control for much of the game, utilizing aggressive defensive pressure and transition scoring to distance themselves from the Wildcats.
Hidalgo, who established herself as a premier talent during her freshman campaign, appeared in mid-season form despite the early stage of the basketball calendar.
The atmosphere in the Italian capital provided a memorable backdrop for the players, staff, and traveling supporters who made the trip to witness the exhibition.
For Villanova, the game offered a challenging benchmark against one of the top programs in the country as they prepare for their upcoming regular season schedule.
Coaching staffs from both universities utilized the exhibition to experiment with different rotations and tactical adjustments that could influence their strategies later this winter.
The overseas trip concluded with the Fighting Irish demonstrating significant offensive efficiency and individual brilliance from their leading scorer.
Both teams are expected to return to the United States shortly to finalize preparations for their respective conference openers and non-conference slates.
With the exhibition behind them, the focus now shifts toward the official start of the collegiate season and the pursuit of tournament bids.
Hidalgo’s performance in Rome serves as a strong indicator of her potential impact as Notre Dame looks to compete at the highest level of women’s basketball this year.
Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if this momentum carries over into the competitive schedule starting next month.
