It seems a fairly straightforward step to determine which double-figure scorers achieved the highest percentage of their points from beyond the arc while at Duke.

Go ahead — guess. We’ll limit the universe of possibilities to the Jon Scheyer era, that is, the past four seasons.

In case memory of their Duke years (or year) fades, if you go by subsequent NBA performance, understanding that last season’s players haven’t had a chance to make a pro mark, there are several obvious possibilities.

Kon Knueppel finished second to former Blue Devil teammate Cooper Flagg in voting for 2026 NBA Rookie Of The Year. In 81 games with the Charlotte Hornets, Knueppel made 273 threes, most ever by an NBA rookie.

But in his only season at Duke, Knueppel finished second on the squad in 3-pointers attempted and made (84-207), and was second in the portion of his scoring derived from beyond the arc (.448).

Then maybe a good guess for leading long-range punch at Duke would be Jared McCain, a contender for 2025 NBA Rookie Of The Year honors while at Philadelphia.

McCain, who realized more than half of his scoring at Duke via the bonusphere in 2023-24, kept hitting at an impressive rate upon entering the pros. He made 38 percent of his threes and was named the NBA Rookie Of The Month in November 2024. But after averaging 16.0 points over an 18-game stretch, the 6-3 guard tore the meniscus cartilage in his left knee and was lost for the season. Traded to Oklahoma City, he appeared as a part-time player for OKC in 2025-26.

Or perhaps the Scheyer stalwart who enjoyed the largest majority of his scoring from the perimeter was Isaiah Evans, last year’s Duke leader in attempting threes. Evans converted more than twice as many threes as anyone else on a 2026 Blue Devil squad that finished 35-3.

Interestingly, Dame Sarr, an unimpressive .323 shooter from long range in ’26, nevertheless realized an inordinate amount of his scoring from that distance, making 43 of 133 tries for 52.9 percent of his points.

Well, if you guessed any of those guys as Duke’s top bonusphere bomber under Scheyer, you’d be wrong.

Try Tyrese Proctor, who twice paced Duke regulars in the percentage of his points coming from the bonusphere.

Proctor’s best came in 2025, when he started all but one game alongside the more celebrated Flagg and Knueppel. Proctor derived 56.8 percent of his scoring on threes that year, tops among the Devils. The Australian averaged 12.4 points in 29.9 minutes per outing and tried a team-high 220 threes, converting 89.
