Broncos Stun Rams 30-26 in Thrilling Second-Half Comeback Win

In a dramatic prime-time showdown on Sunday Night Football, the Denver Broncos rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to earn a thrilling 30-26 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. The victory made franchise history, marking the first time the Broncos have overcome double-digit second-half deficits in consecutive weeks.

The matchup proved to be a stark contrast between two halves. Denver struggled early, going scoreless in the first half while yielding 16 unanswered points to Los Angeles and gathering only 67 net yards. Head Coach Sean Payton called the game “really a tale of two halves,” highlighting how his squad transformed after the break.

In the second half, Denver erupted for 30 points and accumulated 190 net yards. The Broncos converted 5 of 7 third downs following halftime after going just 2 of 6 in the opening two quarters. Defensively, Denver held Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford to nine passing yards and a 50.3 passer rating in the third quarter while forcing three straight punts to open the half.

The comeback began in the third quarter when rookie returner Kolbe Katsis set up momentum with a 28-yard punt return. Denver subsequently scored two touchdowns paired with successful two-point conversions to tie the game at 16–16 late in the third quarter. On one notable two-point attempt, quarterback Bo Nix completed a tight-window pass to wide receiver Jaylen Waddle near the sideline.

The fourth quarter delivered non-stop drama, featuring four lead changes over the final nine minutes. With Denver trailing by three, outside linebacker Que Robinson pressured Stafford on third down, forcing a throw that safety Talanoa Hufanga intercepted and returned 66 yards for a touchdown. According to Next Gen Stats, Hufanga’s pick-six boosted Denver’s win probability by 55.4 percent.

The Rams quickly answered with a 48-yard drive to retake the lead. However, Denver responded behind quarterback Bo Nix and receiver Pat Bryant, who made a pivotal 39-yard catch-and-run on second-and-20 with 3:26 remaining. Receiver Troy Franklin also added key chunk receptions to position Denver in the red zone.

Nix capped the game-winning drive by reaching over the top for a go-ahead touchdown with 47 seconds left. The touchdown marked Nix’s third total score of the half, extending his league-leading record in fourth-quarter comebacks and game-winning drives when trailing by one score since 2025. As time expired, Hufanga intercepted Stafford for a second time to seal the 30-26 triumph.

Payton praised his team’s resilience, stating, “Obviously, a gutsy win… We beat a good team tonight”. Nix echoed the sentiment, noting that the gritty finish represents the team’s growing DNA.
