Three short video clips document local police officers arriving at the scene where 28-year-old Wilber Rafael Garces Perez was wounded on Sunday.
In one video recording released by local law enforcement, what sounds like three gunshots can be heard firing in quick succession.
Another clip shows Garces Perez sitting hunched over in the driver seat of his vehicle while clutching his left shoulder in pain.
Body camera footage shows local police officers assisting Garces Perez out of his car before placing him under arrest.
The video evidence directly contradicts earlier claims suggesting that federal agents forcefully pulled the driver from the vehicle.
An officer on the scene ordered a responder to get shears to cut open his shirt to examine his physical wounds.
Before evaluating the driver, an officer provided descriptive context by inquiring in Spanish if he possessed firearms.
“¿Tiene armas?”
Garces Perez directly responded to the inquiry regarding weapons.
“No,”
An officer summarized his initial observation of the wounded driver.
“He’s got… looks like one gunshot wound so far,”
Reports indicate Garces Perez was delivering a DoorDash order when he made a U-turn under a highway before federal agents pursued him.
Attorney Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch claimed an unmarked truck chased her client and sideswiped his vehicle before he was shot.
Lincoln-Goldfinch said her client missed a court hearing notice because paperwork went to his previous address.
Authorities confirmed Garces Perez had a final order of removal.
